Alan Murphy has 15 years of experience in Container Shipping research and analysis, providing insight and intelligence to a broad range of stakeholders in the logistics community, through quantitative research, econometric modeling, and database architecture development.
Alan has a degree in business economics, and joined the global Market Intelligence department of Maersk Line in 2004, coming from a position as Finance Research Analyst at Copenhagen Business School. At Maersk Line alan was initially responsible for developing, implementing, and managing central systems for measuring and analyzing customer satisfaction, vessel utilization, market developments, and internal performance.
Later, as Senior Analyst of Maersk Line's Intelligence and Analysis section, he was responsible for global Supply/Demand modeling, long term forecasting, market and competitor analysis, and Senior Management reporting. After leaving Maersk Line in 2010, he continued to support the Logistics community through ARM Consulting, helping companies automate manual processes, reduce costs and increase market reach based on actionable information.
Andy commenced his career in logistics in 1983, learning the techniques required to effective manage truck distribution and warehousing. In 1987, Andy joined the Maersk Group, working for both Maersk Line and APM Terminals on a progressive career path which saw him ultimately holding a number of highly senior leadership role. Through his 25 year journey with this industry leader, Andy gained value and deep experience in; Container flow management, Cargo consolidation, Ship operations and network optimisation, Husbandry, Cost Management, Procurement, Process Excellence and ownership, Capacity and Yield management, Water feedering and Container terminal management – from both Operational as well as Commercial angles. Through attaining all of this experience, Andy has a very strong comprehension of end-to-end supply chains and logistics.
In 2012, Andy co-founded CTI Consultancy to provide independent business advisory services to; Shipping Lines, Terminal and Port Operators and Institutional Investors. Andy has been recognised as an industry expert and thought-leader through his work with the international media and conference organisers.
Lars is a recognized globally leading expert in analysing container shipping markets from the perspective of shipping lines, ports as well as logistics companies and IT providers in the industry. Based in Denmark, he has worked in many different countries globally, and in Middle East he has personally designed and led a 6-month project for a leading shipping line onsite in Dubai aimed at substantially improving operational and commercial processes. Clients have included leading container shipping lines, individual ports, multinational terminal operating companies, freight forwarders, universities as well as major cargo owners and shippers.
Prior to the launch of SeaIntel in 2011, Lars has worked as global director of market intelligence as well as global director of eCommerce for Maersk Line. Lars was head of Maersk Line’s experimental program in successfully launching a fully online container carrier, Youship. In addition to leading consulting arm of Sea‑Intelligence, Lars is also the founder of CyberKeel which specializes in cyber-security analysis in the maritime sector as, co-founder of LinerGame providing leading education services in liner shipping through the use of interactive table-top simulations, and co-founder of LinerGrid providing mathematical support for container lines in optimizing their network design.
Imaad has a strong passion and aptitude for quantitative analysis and liner data research. Imaad is overall responsible for the Global Liner Performance (GLP) database and reports, and for contributing analysis to the Sunday Spotlight.
Sadia is overall responsible for managing and processing data for our GLP database and reports. Her primary functions includes ensuring proper data collection processes, liaising with shipping lines, and data validation.
Adam makes good use of his extensive analytical skills in compiling the weekly TCO reports, collecting data for the GLP report and assisting in providing input for the Sunday Spotlights, Mystery Shopper projects and ad-hoc administrative tasks.
